Toei Animation’s native language Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter sites are now open to Spanish-speaking fans – a first for any major anime company. Fans in Latin America will not only have access to a diverse range of corporate and series-specific news and information, as well as unique regional material, but they will also be able to comment and communicate with other fans. Toei Animation’s U.S. subsidiary initiated this direct-to-consumer campaign, and it will also administer the new social media outlets in the future. Toei Animation Inc., based in Los Angeles, California, oversees the film and TV series distribution as well as consumer product licensing of Toei Animation’s top properties in North America, Latin America, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, including Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, One Piece, Digimon, and Saint Seiya.

The announcement follows two recent Toei Animation LATAM headlines about the Sailor Moon and Saint Seiya brands. The first official “Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac” (known in Mexico as “Los Caballeros Del Zodiaco”) performance in Mexico, “Los Caballeros del Zodiaco: Pegasus Fantasy” Symphonic Experience, will open on September 3 at Arena CDMX, according to promoter LoveJapan Entertainment. On March 10, Netflix announced that all three seasons of the hit series “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal” will be available to LATAM subscribers [ES] [PT-BR]in both Spanish sub and dub, as well as Portuguese sub and (for the first time) dub, in the near future. This will be the latest addition to Netflix LATAM’s growing catalog of Toei Animation brand movies, which already includes the first four seasons of the global sensation “One Piece” as well as three One Piece feature films.

“Anime is extremely popular in Latin America, and the region has one of the largest fan bases outside of Asia for Toei Animation assets,” said Lisa Yamatoya, director of marketing and licensing for Toei Animation Inc. “With so many exciting things coming up from the Studio, like new Dragon Ball Super and One Piece movies, it’s the ideal time to interact and engage with Spanish-speaking fans and customers across Latin America.”
